General Assistance:

  • Information Sheets – IDWales, together with tourism partners and businesses, have pulled together informational packs on a variety of topics, from How to Work with the Travel Trade to Creating Bird Watching Breaks.  These topics are available as downloadable pdfs, just click on Information Sheets above to find further details.  IDWales also has listings of suppliers covering; photographers, web designers, print & brand designers, leaflet distributors, PR and Marketing individuals and Agencies.  For futher details click on Information Sheets above or send us a request at IDWales on info@IDWales.com.
  • Networking - Capital Region Tourism have put together a Tourism Business 'Dating' Service on their website, www.capitalregiontourism.org.  If you are looking for businesses to partner with, whether to cross promote, develop short breaks or just be aware of, click on the link under Networking and go straight there.  If you would like to be listed there yourself, so other businesses can find you, send contact details and 150 words about your business and what you are looking for in partnership and we will add it to the site.  Send your information to: info@idwales.com.

Transport:

  • First Great Western - are offering travel vouchers from London/Reading to South Wales (as far as Carmarthen) as part of short breaks or business conferences.  They are £25 Standard return and £50 First Class return and are good for the calendar year.  You need to purchase them direct from FGW and sell them on to your guests.  For full details and terms and conditions please dowload the pdf.

Funding:

  • Events Marketing Funding - Capital Region Tourism will have event marketing funding available to assist with marketing your event in April 2008.  To find out more, visit their website www.capitalregiontourism.org, under How We Can Help, or click on the words Events Markeitng Funding above and link straight there.  This fund is match-funded at 50% and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Applications are recorded based on date of receipt, then reviewed by a Panel in date order.  The funding is allocated accordingly by the Panel, so when the fund has been completely allocated it will close.  Please note - The Assessment Panel strongly recommend you read the Guidelines thoroughly found on the website as well, as applications are assessed very strongly against these guidelines.
  • Short Breaks Marketing Funding - Capital Region Tourism still have short-break marketing funding available to assist with your event.  The next deadline is 24th October 2007.  To find out more or to download an Expression of Interest Form, visit their website www.capitalregiontourism.org, under How We Can Help, or click on the words Short Breaks Markeitng Funding above and link straight there.  This fund is match-funded at 50% and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Applications are recorded based on date of receipt, then reviewed by a Panel in date order.  The funding is allocated accordingly by the Panel, so when the fund has been completely allocated it will close.  Please note - The Assessment Panel strongly recommend you read the Guidelines thoroughly found on the website as well, as applications are assessed very strongly against these guidelines.

Leisure Marketing: (click on the links below for more information)

  • Visitwales.com - There are now a few ways you can promote on VisitWales.com.  If you have a special offer or event going on, like a poetry slam or a festival, you can promote it on their Special Offers page, under Events and/or Things To do.  This is in addition to your own managed entry.
  • Newsletter Marketing System - let your customer database know the latest about your business and what is going on in the area  through your own personalised newsletter. 
  • Leisure Breaks Campaign – a leisure campaign managed by Capital Region Tourism on behalf of Southern Wales, targeting people interested in short breaks in a 3-hour drive time of the region, including London and the West Midlands. 
  • Golf Breaks Campaign – With the Ryder Cup coming to the Celtic Manor in 2010 there is an anticipated growth in the golf industry in Wales, particularly the southern region.  Visit Wales (formally WTB) and Capital Region Tourism are both looking for golf packages or partnerships they can offer to their customers. 
  • Hwyl PR Campaign - HWYL (How Will You Love) PR campaign is aimed at raising the profile of cultural and heritage tourism in the southern region, concentrating on the unique qualities of the region and asking people 'How Will You Love Southern Wales'.
  • Events Assistance and Opportunities – Are you planning or managing an event?  There is lots of assistance available to you from an actual ‘How To’ guide that takes you through putting on a successful event from start to finish, to who will promote your event, to funding. Remember – an event can be anything from a folk night to a full fledged festival.

Travel Trade:

  • Travel Trade Hot Leads – Southern Wales and Visit Wales work with Travel Trade buyers to inform them of what is what in the region.  As Travel Trade buyers put together itineraries they contact our Travel Trade Teams to find out who they should be working with.  These Hot Leads are passed on to tourism businesses to do business with the buyers.
  • Travel Trade Guidelines - if you are not yet working with the Travel Trade and/or want to know more about how to go about working with this lucrative market.  IDWales have put together with partners Travel Trade Guidelines to assist you.  You can download the pdf by clicking on the hyperlink above or you can request direct from IDWales on info@IDWales.com.

Business / Conference / Meeting And Incentives (Mice) Markets:

  • If you have meeting rooms or conference facilities and want to make the most of the business/conference market, make sure the following people are aware of what you have to offer.  They can also potentially assist with understanding what this market is looking for, development and facility requirements.
